A Unique Microclimate

Priory Maze and Gardens are set within 10 acres, and consists of various themed gardens, and the hedge maze.

The unique microclimate in this part of Norfolk enables us to grow an unusual collection of rare and exotic plants throughout the gardens, many of which are offered for sale in our plant centre, at very reasonable prices, along with any advice that you may need.

The Maze and its History

The design and size of the Priory Maze is based on the ruins of the adjacent Beeston Priory. The copper beech copies the layout of remaining ruins, and hornbeam infills produce the maze.

As this is not a symmetrical maze, there is no middle, but the viewing platform is located where the cloister would have been and gives visitors a bird’s eye view of the maze and nearby gardens.

The Cafe

With its wonderful atmosphere and friendly service, the cafe is the perfect place to come with friends, family and loved ones.

Try one of our full breakfasts or delicious fresh croissants to start the day; cappuccino and a big scone; a jacket potato or one of the award winning Mr Kew’s pies at lunchtime; or an indulgent cream tea in the afternoon.

Priory Maze and Gardens has one of the most natural enchanting gardens in Norfolk, where you can experience peaceful relaxation in natural gardens of woodland, water and meadow. Our gardens are establishing a growing reputation as a must visit Norfolk attraction. The gardens are a haven of natural beauty providing a home for numerous birds, insects and mammals. Sit and watch the different aspects of the garden from our numerous benches, and take in the backdrop of Beeston Bump cliffs, or watch dragonflies flitting over the ponds and streams. The quintessential sound of water is provided by the babbling of gentle waterfalls through our meadow stream garden, which along with the dramatic ruins of Beeston Priory, creates yet another atmosphere.
